What is the GST Calculator?
A GST calculator helps you add or remove Goods and Services Tax in India. You can start from a base amount and add GST, or take a GST-inclusive total and find the base and tax. It supports the standard slabs and splits the tax into CGST and SGST for intra-state supply.
Formula & how it works
GST amount = Base × Rate ÷ 100 · Base (from inclusive) = Amount ÷ (1 + Rate ÷ 100)- Base
- = amount before GST
- Rate
- = GST slab (0/5/12/18/28%)
For intra-state supply, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. To remove GST from an inclusive amount, divide by (1 + rate ÷ 100).
Example
Add 18% GST on a ₹1,000 base amount.
Inputs
- Base amount
- ₹1,000
- GST rate
- 18%
Results
- GST
- ₹180
- Total
- ₹1,180
GST = 1000 × 18 ÷ 100 = ₹180 (CGST ₹90 + SGST ₹90). Total = ₹1,180.
